LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University is proudly celebrating the induction of Sister Nancy Marie Jamroz into the 1835 Livonia City Hall of Fame, honoring her more than four decades of devoted service and leadership within the community and the university.
Sister Nancy, originally from Garden City, has been a transformative figure in education and community service. A 1959 graduate of Ladywood High School, she continued pursuing her education, obtaining a bachelor's in biology from Madonna College, a master's in Educational Administration from Marygrove College, and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy.
Beginning her career in education, Sister Nancy spent 20 years teaching in elementary and middle schools across Michigan. Her educational journey within Madonna University progressed when she was named Vice President of Student Services in 1989, a role she held for two decades.
During her tenure as Vice President, Sister Nancy oversaw several departments, including Athletics, Student and Residential Life, Campus Ministry, and the Center for Personalized Instruction. Her leadership has been instrumental in enhancing student life and expanding opportunities for both personal and academic growth among students.
"Sister Nancy is a pure joy to be around with a wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh, willing to burst into song at any minute and you'd better join in!" Said Emma Kent, a media specialist who has worked with Sister Nancy at Madonna for over twenty five years. "We both share a love for all God's Creatures from the tiniest fragile butterfly to the angriest old Tom cat, every life matters in her eyes."
Beyond her administrative roles, Sister Nancy's impact stretches across cultural and religious boundaries. She has been an active participant in interfaith dialogues, contributing significantly to community cohesion and understanding. Her efforts were recognized when Imam Arif Huskic, the founder and president of the Common Word Alliance Clergy Interfaith Organization, honored her with numerous awards for her dedication to advancing interfaith understanding and dialogue.
Sister Nancy's induction into the 1835 Livonia City Hall of Fame is a testament to her lifelong commitment to service and education, embodying the spirit of community that defines both Madonna University and the city of Livonia.
